Original content is no longer enough. Now your content must be original and fresh.

This means you must constantly be adding new content to your site just to stay where you are in Google search results. The older your content, the farther down you will be in search results.

 Up-loading new content to your site is only the first step. Someone has to proof read it for typos, grammar, spelling mistakes.

In addition, the new content must be checked in all common browsers. What looks good in IE-8 might appear broken on a Mac or in Chrome or Firefox or even in IE-9.

Promotions, coupons, offers of any type that are expired, but still appear in your site.

Event announcements, for events that are over.

Website Maintenance Mistake #3: Broken Links

A visitor clicks a link in your site and gets an error notice.

This is a sure sign that your website isn’t kept up to date.

Website Maintenance Mistake #4: Copyright Notice

Your copyright notice should be in the footer on every page in your site. Every January first this notice must be up-dated to the new year.

Going into a website whose copyright notice is 3 years out of date is another sure sign that the website is neglected.
