Lie #1: You don’t need to use a professional PPC manager.
The Truth: The way for an amateur to make a small fortune in e-commerce with PPC…is to start with a LARGE fortune.
You can lose an incredible amount of money in a matter of days, or even hours, with PPC if you don’t know what you’re doing.
On the surface, PPC appears easy.
But looks are very deceiving.
For example, one popular beginners guide to PPC book is 432 pages! And remember, that’s a beginner’s guide.
Still think mastering PPC is easy?
PPC is extremely complex (if you don’t want to lose money).
PPC changes all the time. If you don’t do PPC management for a full-time job, how are you going to keep up?

Lie#2: Go for the keywords with the highest search volume, dummy.
The Truth: Follow this ridiculous strategy and you’ll get a ton of clicks…and almost no sales. And don’t forget, you pay for each and every one of those clicks, whether you sell anything or not.
Why is this a really, really bad strategy?
Let’s say that you sell golf shoes, and only golf shoes.
You decide to do PPC on your own and you choose the keyword “shoes” so you’ll get a lot of traffic.
“Shoes” is searched 30,400,000 times per month.
Now, how many of those searching for “shoes” are only interested in buying golf shoes?
Well, “golf shoes” is only searched 301,000 times per month.
That means that only about 1 click out of every 100 clicks you would get from your “shoes” PPC ad would be for someone seriously interested in “golf shoes”.
You will pay for all 100 clicks, even though you only want that 1 click.
Having the knowledge and the ability to sort through all the possible keywords and select just the one or two that could pay off for you is as much art as it is science.

Lie #3: You don’t need a dedicated landing page. Just send your ad clicks to your Home page.
All you’re going to do is frustrate a lot of people who click on your PPC ad and aren’t immediately taken to exactly what your ad is promoting.
They don’t want to go to your Home page. Don’t waste their time.
In other words, once again you’ll get clicks and no sales.
